NYC mayoral race surprise
Former governor Andrew Cuomo was considered the front-runner in the Democratic primary for NYC mayor, but state Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani came out on top in this week's primary election.
Cuomo said he may still run in the November general election--he would run on an independent line, as current Mayor Adams plans to do. They will all compete against each other and Republican Curtis Sliwa, who lost to Adams in 2021 and was well-known before that for founding the controversial Guardian Angels group.
